Carer identification matters ...

Saturday 2nd Dec 2023

Unpaid carers make up 9% of the UK population, however, it is thought this is likely to be a considerable underestimation and it should be more like 16-19%.

GP practices are better than local authorities at identifying carers, however, in order for carers to get the support and guidance they need, it is essential you are able to identify them - before they become unwell or the relationship breaks-down, resulting in emergency and costly actions. Carer identification matters; it is the first step towards the NHS and local authorities being able to provide adequate, well targeted care.

Carers need support - health and well-being, NHS Health Checks and Social Prescribing. Without complete data, you cannot provide pro-active support and provide appropriate services where they are needed.
