What might the future of QOF look like?

NICE have proposed a set of new indicators for potential inclusion in the NICE indicator menu for general practice. Some of the areas included are:

  • Pulse rhythm assessment and atrial fibrillation: The % of patients aged 65+ who have been diagnosed with one or more of the following conditions: CHD, HF, Hypertension, Diabetes, CKD, PAD or Stroke/TIA who had a pulse rhythm assessment in the preceding 12 months
  • Gestational Diabetes: The % of women who have had a diagnosis of Gestational Diabetes, diagnosed more than 12 months ago, who have had a HbA1c test in the preceding 12 months
  • Acute Kidney Injury: The practice establishes and maintains a register of all patients who have had an episode of AKI
  • Autism: The practice establishes and maintains a register of all patients with a diagnosis of Autism
  • Obesity and Weight Management: The % of patients with CHD, HF, Hypertension, Diabetes, PAD, Stroke/TIA, COPD, Asthma or RA who have had a BMI recorded in the previous 12 months
