The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to employers to create new 6-month job placements for young people (aged 16 to 24) who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment. The government support will cover the employee wages at the national minimum wage for 25 hours per week for 6 months, as well as the employer’s NI and contributions to a workplace pension. Employers can top up the salary or the hours if they wish.
On top of this the government will pay you £1,500 for each employee you take on under the kickstart scheme – this will help cover training, uniforms and other set-up costs. The jobs created must not replace any existing or planned vacancies, people who have been made redundant or contractors used by the business.
Insight is hoping to be approved as an intermediary organisation for Primary Care to achieve the 30-job minimum to allow practices to qualify for the Kickstart Scheme. Throughout the 6-month job placement, Insight plan to run a series of free training webinars to help your placements following their work experience with you. These would include employability webinars such as CV writing, interview techniques and customer service.
