GDPR - Consent Codes for Clinical Trials

Wednesday 14th Mar 2018

Do we need to get consent from patients for clinical trials?

If you have any doubt about this, our recommendation would be to seek legal advice.  However, if you get involved in clinical trials using patient data which could in any way identify patients you will need to get consent from patients - request consent, tell them what the clinical trial is and what their data is used for.  We would also recommend you include this in your privacy policy.  It is also essential you code the consent in the patient’s medical record: For more information on GDPR and ensuring compliance before May 2018, book to join one of our webinars, specific to primary care.
