Together Everyone Achieves More.

As a small company we know how difficult it is to keep on top of HR & staff personnel and all the changes associated with it. This is the reason why Insight employed Lisa; as well as being a massive help to us as a small business, we knew that Lisa would be a massive help to you as well. Lisa’s experience includes 20 years as a HR manager for a large retain organisation. However, much of Lisa’s experience is easily transferable to primary care as customer service has always played a large part of her role – this being as critical to you as it is in retail.

Practice Manager’s are expected to be HR managers, finance managers, IT managers, facilities managers and much more; most larger organisations have a manager for each of these roles. We know that it would be completely unrealistic to have this in primary care; however, it is equally as impossible for one person to be able to effectively manage and know all they need to know about all of these areas.

Many practices do not require or cannot justify a HR Department. For many practices, it is generally someone’s responsibility to handle all HR and staff issues. This can be a really daunting task for this person as many will have received no formal training but they are still expected to pick this up as part of their day to day role.

Insight’s HR services are designed to offer you assistance as and when you need it - with no lengthy and costly contracts. This maybe to resolve a specific issue, to look at implementing new initiatives or update existing procedures such as your employee handbook and staff policies. Prevention is better than cure - our services can often prevent situations spiralling out of control by nipping certain situations in the bud. Whilst you may get by most of the time, there may be an occasion when you need assistance & support - we can provide a cost-effect and efficient service to meet this need.

Many issues occur because your employee handbook and policies do not cover all eventualities. When situations then occur, decisions are made on the hoof and the precedent is set. HR is not a tick-box exercise - it is all very well downloading an existing absence policy but it has to meet your practice needs and cover all eventualities. Do you understand your responsibilities when recruiting new staff or when providing references?

We are a small business just like you; we employed a HR Manager as we knew that this was one area that we really struggled with as it is impossible to keep up-to-date with all the changes. As a result of this, we found that we over-compensated and brushed issues under the carpet. This does not make for happy staff with high staff morale; small issues will easily get out of control if not addressed. Get the best out of your staff; after all, they are your most expensive asset.

We know that you can easily find answers to questions on the internet, however, HR is often not black & white. When handling emotional situations, a degree of empathy & understanding is required, in these situations a stock answer off the internet is not always the best way forward. Including HR queries in our annual membership is a god-send to those who subscribe – they are able to call and explain their situation in detail and are given answers best suited to them.

We are delighted to announce that Lisa Seeley, HR Consultant, has joined them to start up their new HR division. Lisa has over 22 years HR experience, mainly at management level, and has already made a difference to our HR management.

As a small company it is really difficult to keep on top of HR and all the changes which is why Insight decided to employ Lisa and to help other small businesses such as general practice with any HR issues.
